The Frank Slide (from Turtle Mountain) is the site of Canada’s most disastrous landslide. It’s history is mesmerizing, as is the Mountain. For many years I longed to hike to the top of Turtle Mountain and look down upon that gigantic slide. Finally, I had the chance to do so. I struggled my way up the mountain, with most of the group moving way ahead of me. Once again I was “leader of the back” – bringing up the rear. But I didn’t care. It didn’t matter that my speed was slow. It mattered that I made it to the top and could finally look down on that slide. I am proud of myself for taking this trek, even if I can’t keep up with the gazelles ahead of me!
