The Frank Slide – a View From the Top

Top of Frank Slide  The Frank Slide (from Turtle Mountain) is the site of Canada’s most disastrous landslide. It’s history is mesmerizing, as is the Mountain. For many years I longed to hike to the top of Turtle Mountain and look down upon that gigantic slide.  Finally, I had the chance to do so. I struggled my way up the mountain, with most of the group moving way ahead of me. Once again I was “leader of the back” – bringing up the rear.  But I didn’t care.  It didn’t matter that my speed was slow.  It mattered that I made it to the top and could finally look down on that slide. I am proud of myself for taking this trek, even if I can’t keep up with the gazelles ahead of me!
